What is restorative care and how does DANS do it differently?
Restorative care usually involves clinical oversight from our registered nurses, who support you through recovery after surgery, so you heal quickly and stay comfortable. Whether you've just come home from hospital or had unexpected surgery, our team helps with mobility, medications and day-to-day support around the home while you get back on your feet.
We help you recover sooner, and stay comfortable doing it.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Questions about in home care, funding, and getting started? We've answered the ones we hear most.
What is restorative care?
Restorative care is short-term support that helps you rebuild strength, confidence and daily skills after a setback - so you can keep doing things for yourself rather than have everything done for you. Under Support at Home, restorative care can be funded for up to 12 weeks.
Who can benefit from restorative care?
People recovering from illness, surgery, a fall or a hospital stay, and anyone whose confidence at home has slipped. It suits people who want to regain independence rather than move straight to ongoing care.
Is restorative care about independence?
Yes. The goal is to step support down over time, not up. Care workers help you practise everyday tasks safely, progress is reviewed against your goals, and the plan finishes when you have regained what you set out to recover.
